Main theme for the ONS 2012 event: Confronting Energy Paradoxes. For almost 40 years ONS has been a broad-based international energy event, and a unique meeting place for everyone involved in the entire energy sector. Since its launch in 1974, the biennial event has been staged in Stavanger, Norway. ONS provides an arena for the presentation and high-level discussion of the political, economic and technological issues surrounding the international oil and gas industry. In recent years, ONS has incorporated broader energy issues while maintaining its focus on the petroleum industry. The ONS Foundation has overall responsibility for the ONS event, which aims to continue as a major international arena for the promotion and advancement of the energy industry.
